Creating an Estimate

Estimates are proposals you send to potential customers before starting work. They require a Pro tier subscription.


On the web app:

  1. Click Estimates in the sidebar
  2. Click Create New in the top-right
  3. Select a Customer from the relationship dropdown
  4. Enter a Title describing the work
  5. Add Line Items — click "Add Line Item" for each row:
  6. Description (required) — what the work or material is
  7. Quantity (required, defaults to 1)
  8. Unit Price (required) — price per unit
  9. The Total for each line is calculated automatically (quantity x unit price)
  10. The Tax Rate is auto-populated from your account's default tax rate, but you can change it per estimate
  11. The Subtotal, Tax Amount, and Grand Total are all calculated automatically
  12. Optionally check Use Alternate Address to specify a different service address
  13. Add Notes for any additional details
  14. Click Save

Your estimate is assigned a reference number automatically (e.g., EST-1001). The starting number can be configured by clicking the settings gear icon, then going to the Invoices & Estimates tab.

On the mobile app:

  1. Tap Estimates in the bottom navigation
  2. Tap the + button
  3. Fill in the customer, title, and line items
  4. Tap Save
